PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Naphthalene is an organic compound with formula C10H8. It is the simplest polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, and is a white crystalline solid with a characteristic odor that is detectable at concentrations as low as 0.08 ppm by mass. As an aromatic hydrocarbon, naphthalene's structure consists of a fused pair of benzene rings. It is best known as the main ingredient of traditional mothballs.

Industrial naphthalene is mainly used in the production of water reducing agent and diffusing agent. It is the raw material for the production of synthetic resin, plasticizer, rubber antioxidant, surfactant, synthetic fiber, dye, medicine and spice.
Naphthalene is used mainly as a precursor to derivative chemicals. It is mainly used for the production of phthalic anhydride, as well as raw materials for the production of dyes, medicines, etc.
The single largest use of naphthalene is the industrial production of phthalic anhydride.
Naphthalene used as a fumigant.
Molten naphthalene provides an excellent solubilizing medium for poorly soluble aromatic compounds.
Many azo dyes are produced from naphthalene. Useful agrichemicals include naphthoxyacetic acids.
STORAGE
