Cam Followers(Track Roller Bearing)Cam followers, also referred to as cam rollers, cam follower bearings and track followers are a type of specialist roller bearing used in a wide range of mechanical cam and roller track applications.
Cam followers (stud-type track rollers) are designed to run on all types of tracks and to be used in cam drives, conveyor systems, etc.Cam followers are extremely important parts because without one a cam would not work properly as cams must make contact with followers in order to transfer rotary motion into linear motion.
Some important parameters for cam followers are shown in following picture.
Shaft-Mount-Also known as yoke-style cam followers, these rollers have more mounting flexibility than threaded track rollers. They're typically mounted onto a shaft or clevis rod end.
Radial load refers to the force that is applied perpendicular to the roller's outer surface.
Thrust load, also known as axial load, refers to the force that is applied parallel to the end of the roller.
Static load capacity is the weight a roller can hold while stationary.
Dynamic load capacity is the weight a roller can hold while in motion.
Most threaded track rollers have a lubrication hole in the side of the stud (access can be difficult once rollers are installed). Others allow lubrication through the base of the stud and head of the roller. Lubrication holes in all three points allow maximum access.
Shaft-mount track rollers usually have a lubrication hole or groove in the roller's inner ring.
