Coal Tar Pitch is a derivate of the distillation of coal tar. It is used as a binder for the production of Carbon Anodes in the aluminium industry. Coal tars are complex and variable mixtures of phenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic compounds.
