Introducing a revolutionary waterproof solution, our Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) is crafted with precision using the superior swelling capabilities of sodium-based bentonite. Sandwiched between specialized composite geotextiles and nonwoven fabrics, this liner is engineered via acupuncture or suture techniques to achieve an unrivaled impermeable barrier. The acupuncture process creates minute fiber spaces, ensuring bentonite particles remain immobile, and when exposed to moisture, they form a consistent, dense colloidal layer that adeptly prevents water leakage. In diverse projects, it can be paired with HDPE liners for enhanced waterproofing. Remarkably, while standard calcium bentonite expands up to three times its size, our sodium-based bentonite can absorb up to five times its weight in water, expanding 15 to 17 times its original volume. This expansion is harnessed by the geotextile and nonwoven fabric, which securely encase the bentonite, providing protection and increasing the shear strength of the GCL.
