25 hydroxyvitamin D is the main form of vitamin D in the body, vitamin D is a steroid derivative, which is a fat-soluble vitamin, vitamin D is converted to 25-hydroxyvitamin D by hydroxylation in the liver, and then converted to active 1.25-dihydroxyvitamin D in the kidney. The determination of 25hydroxyvitamin D is used clinically for: 1. bone-related diseases: such as rickets, osteochondrosis, osteoporosis and renal bone disease. 2. hypercalcemia. 3. metabolic status of calcium and phosphorus.
