Sodium dodecyl sulfate is an anionic surfactant, white or light yellow powder, easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insensitive to alkali and hard water, and almost insoluble in chloroform, ether, and light petroleum. It has the functions of decontamination, emulsification, and excellent foaming power. It is an anionic surfactant with slight toxicity to the human body, and its biodegradability can reach more than 90%.
Application
1. GB 2760-96 stipulates that it is a processing aid in the food industry. It is used in cakes, beverages, egg whites, fresh fruits, fruit juice drinks, edible oils, etc.
2. It is mainly used as a foaming agent, cleaning agent, and wetting agent in cosmetics and skin care products (to make cosmetics contact with the skin as soon as possible to avoid being blocked by skin oil).
3. It is used as a detergent, textile bleaching aid, and carpet dyeing agent.
4. It is used as a wool detergent and leather softener.
5. It is used as a foaming agent for toothpaste and fire extinguishers.
6. It is used as a cooking penetrant in papermaking.
