Carbon Steel Rebar General Introduction:
Rebar is a surface ribbed bar, also known as ribbed steel, usually with 2 longitudinal ribs and evenly spaced horizontal ribs along its length. The shape of the cross-rib is spiral, herringbone and crescent-shaped. The nominal diameter is expressed in millimetres. The regular diameter of reinforcing bars are 8-50 mm and the recommended diameters are 8, 12, 16, 20, 25, 32 and 40 mm. Ribbed bars are mainly subjected to tensile stresses in concrete. Steel rebar has a greater bonding capacity with the concrete due to the ribs and is therefore better able to withstand the effects of external forces. It is used in a wide range of building structures, especially in large, heavy, light thin-walled and high-rise structures.
Rebar is the common name for hot rolled ribbed steel bars. The grade of ordinary hot-rolled steel bar is composed of HRB and the minimum yield point of the grade, and H, R, and B are the first letters of the three words Hot rolled, Ribbed, and Bars respectively.
Hot-rolled ribbed steel bars can be divided into three grades: Grade II HRB335 (the old grade is 20MnSi), Grade III HRB400 (the old grades are 20MnSiV, 20MnSiNb, 20Mnti), and Grade IV HRB500.
Deformed Steel Rebar Specification:
Rebars are usually formed with a surface which is patterned (known as a deformed bar) to make a better adherence with the concrete spilled around it.No specific or special patterns are there for deforming, however, the number, spacing, and the height of the marks are standardized and integrated into the primary debar. In addition, there are plain bars which are used in the most specific and definite ways, only. Owing to the fact that rebar holds the concrete in a compact state, it is known as a tensioning material. when it comes into the compression, concrete is a very tough and strong material, but it almost has no strength where it comes to carrying tensile loads.
