Introduction & Application: 1.Cosmetics
An important use of glycerine is in the cosmetics and personal care industry. It is commonly found in skincare products due to its emollient properties. It is an excellent moisturizer and helps to keep the skin soft and supple. It is also used in hair care products such as shampoos and conditioners to add moisture and shine to the hair.
2. Food industry
Glycerine also has a wide range of applications in foods and beverages: used as Sweetener, Humectant, Texture, Enhancer, Preservative, Solvent and Carrier. It is widely used in foods, beverages, baked foods, chewy confections, ice creams, sorbets, frozen desserts, dried fruits.
3. For Pharma Pharmaceutical glycerin is an organic compound majorly used as an excipient in the pharmaceutical industry. Glycerin exhibits various benefits in medical and pharmaceutical preparations such as improving smoothness, lubrication, and humectant. It is most commonly utilized in formulation of suppositories, cough syrups, elixirs, and expectorants.
4. For TobaccoGlycerin is applied to cigarette tobacco to improve moisture holding characteristics of tobacco and act as a surface
active agent for flavor application.
5. For production of chemicals.It is used in the production of explosives, polyurethane foams, and antifreeze. It is also used as a solvent in the extraction of plant oils and as a preservative in the manufacturing of soap.Additionally, it is used in the production of biodiesel. It is a byproduct of the biodiesel production process and is used as a fuel additive. This is also used in the production of other biofuels such as bioethanol.
