Appear white powder or flake solid, colorless ,transparent crystalseasily soluble in water ,can release lots of heat. in water appear alkaline, soluble in ethanol and glycerol, not soluble in acetone ,ether, melting point 380 ºC, boiling point 1324 ºC, relative density 2.04 g/cm3, refractive index n20/D 1.421, vapor pressure 1mmHg (719 ºC).
Soluble in Chemical properties: Melting point 318.4 ºC Boiling point 1390 ºC The relative density of Solubility: soluble in water, and strongly exothermic. Dissolved in ethanol and glycerol easily; insoluble in acetone, ether. Exposed on the air, it will eventually completely dissolved into solution.

Caustic Soda flakes can be used for the base-driven hydrolysis of esters(as in saponification), amides and alkyl halides.
2. Refining petroleum products,
After washing with sulfuric acid, petroleum products also contain some acidic substances, which must be washed with caustic soda solution and then washed with water before the refined products can be obtained.
3. Detergent, washing powder
Caustic Soda is frequently used as an industrial cleaning agent and added to water, heated, and then used to clean process equipment, storage tanks, etc.
It can dissolve grease, oils, fats and protein based deposits.
4. Textiles and paper,
Caustic Soda is used for fiber treatment and dyeing, and for Mercerizing cotton fibers.
Caustic Soda flakes plays a key role in several later stages of the process of bleaching the brown pulpresulting from the pulping process, including oxygen delignification,oxidative extraction, and simple extraction.
5.Water softening and treatment,
Sodium hydroxide is used in water treatment as follows: eliminate the hardness of water,adjust the pH of water, neutralize waste water, eliminate heavy metal ions in water by precipitation, regeneration of ion exchange resin.
6.Food and drug industry etc.
