Hyaluronidase cleaves hyaluronic acid at the β - D-GalNAc - (1-4) - β - D-GlcA bond, producing 3- (4-deoxy - β - D-gluc-4-enuronosyl) - N-acetyl-D-glucosamine tetrasaccharides or hexasaccharides. This enzyme specifically acts on hyaluronic acid and has no activity against chondroitin and chondroitin sulfate.
