Firefighter turnout gear has thermal barrier and moisture barrier.
Moisture barrier is the second layer, consisting of a barrier laminated to FR breathable PTFE membrane. It designed to prevents external liquid penetration, and allow metabolic heat to escape.
The thermal liner is the third layer of the turnout gear. It consists of a multi-layer that includes a facecolth fabric quilted to spunlaced nonwoven fabric. It provides thermal protection for the wearer with its nonwoven or porous padding structure.
