Product Description
In electronics, a double current shunt resistor is a device that creates a low-resistance path for electric current, to allow it to pass around another point in the circuit. The current shunt is wired in series with a heavy load, such as a DC motor, battery charger, heater, plating bath, or smelter pot line. A DC voltmeter is connected to the shunt in a 4-wire (Kelvin) configuration. The preferred location for the shunt is on the grounded side of the load. This minimizes the voltage present at the shunt and meter connections.
A range of Blue-Jay shunts are available to measure DC currents and provide a proportional 50~100mV DC output to safely drive a moving coil instrument, overload protection, or other control device. The Blue-Jay DC shunt is accurate to class 0.5 and is suitable for all DC monitoring applications. The manganin shunts have brass ends and are available to measure currents from 0.1A up to 10000A. Furthermore, various sizes, configurations, and mounting styles are available.
