Resorcinol is mainly used in rubber binder, synthetic resin, dyes, preservatives, pharmaceutical and analytical reagents. Resorcinol, similar to phenol and cresol, forms a condensation polymer with formaldehyde. It can be used to make tire cord binder for viscose filament and nylon, and to prepare wood binder for vinyl materials and metals. Adhesion, resorcinol is the intermediate of many azo dyes, fur dyes, but also the pharmaceutical intermediate p-nitrosalicylic acid raw materials.
