SAE4140/42CrMo related performance and parameters:
SAE4140/42CrMO steel belongs to alloy structural steel in terms of ma-terial classification, has good mechanical properties and ma-chinability, and is widely used, mainly has plate and roundbar two types of materials, its comprehensive performance isbetter than 40CR, has been recognized by the industry. Gade 4140 is a super high strength steel with high strengthand toughness, good hardenability, no obvious temper brit-tleness, high fatique limit and multi-impact resistance afterquenching and tempering treatment, good impact toughnessat low temperature. 42CrMo steel is suitable for the manufac-ture of large and medium-sized plastic molds requiring cer-tain strength and toughness.
SAE4140/42CrMO mechanical properties:
Hardness: annealed, 147 ~ 241HB, 42crmo 42crmo mechani-cal properties: tensile strength ob (MPa) : >1080(110) yieldstrength os (MPa) :2930(95) elongation 65(%): z12 sectionshrinkage w(%) : 245 impact work AKV (J-RRB- : 263 impacttoughness value aJvCM2/cm2) :>78(8) hardness: <217HB forincreasing die life to 800,000 modules or above, it can be realized by means of quenching and low temperature temper-ing for pre-hardened steel. During quenching, it preheats at500-600° C for 2-4 hours, then holds at 850-880 C for a certain period of time (at least 2 hours) , and cools in oil until50-100° C comes out and air-cooled. After quenching, thehardness can reach 50-52 HRC, in order to prevent cracking,low temperature tempering treatment at 200 ° C should becarried out immediately. After tempering, the hardness canbe kept above 48 HRC.
