Thermal actuator is a driving device consisting of a positive temperature coefficient thermistor (PTC) installed in a sealed container filled with solid wax. When the solid wax is heated to a controllable temperature by an energized thermistor, it melts and expands, thereby driving a spring loaded piston outward. When the thermistor is powered off, the liquid wax cools, while the barrel returns the piston to its initial position.
