Structural Design
Common truck shock absorbers have tubular and swing arm structures. Tubular shock absorbers are further divided into single-tube and double-tube types. Double-tube shock absorbers have two cylinders, an outer cylinder for storing oil and an inner cylinder for accommodating the piston. They work stably and have a moderate cost. Working Principle
Based on the principle of hydraulic damping, shock absorbers mainly consist of a piston rod, piston, cylinder body, valves, and oil. When the wheel bounces upward (compression stroke), the piston moves downward, increasing the oil pressure in the lower chamber. The oil flows to other chambers through the flow valve, and partially pushes open the compression valve, generating a small damping force to cushion the impact. When the wheel falls back (extension stroke), the piston moves upward, and the oil pressure in the upper chamber suddenly rises. The extension valve opens, and the oil flows back. In this process, a larger damping force is generated to attenuate vibrations and convert mechanical energy into thermal energy and dissipate it.

Damping ratio: Generally between 0.2 and 0.4, which is related to the shock absorption efficiency. A reasonable damping ratio allows vibrations to decay quickly and prevents excessive vehicle body rebound.
