Structural Design
Common truck shock absorbers have tubular and swing arm structures. Tubular shock absorbers are further divided into single-tube and double-tube types. Single-tube shock absorbers have a compact internal structure, fast response speed, and superior heat dissipation performance, suitable for trucks with high-performance requirements. Double-tube shock absorbers have two cylinders, an outer cylinder for storing oil and an inner cylinder for accommodating the piston. They work stably and have a moderate cost. Swing arm shock absorbers are mostly used in heavy trucks. By utilizing the lever principle of the swing arm, they can withstand greater loads and have excellent cushioning effects.
Working Principle
Based on the principle of hydraulic damping, shock absorbers mainly consist of a piston rod, piston, cylinder body, valves, and oil. When the wheel bounces upward (compression stroke), the piston moves downward, increasing the oil pressure in the lower chamber. The oil flows to other chambers through the flow valve, and partially pushes open the compression valve, generating a small damping force to cushion the impact. When the wheel falls back (extension stroke), the piston moves upward, and the oil pressure in the upper chamber suddenly rises. The extension valve opens, and the oil flows back. In this process, a larger damping force is generated to attenuate vibrations and convert mechanical energy into thermal energy and dissipate it.

Load-bearing capacity: Designed according to the truck's own weight and load capacity. The load-bearing capacity of heavy truck shock absorbers can reach several tons to ensure stable operation under heavy pressure.
Stiffness coefficient: Includes static stiffness and dynamic stiffness. Static stiffness maintains the vehicle's posture when it is stationary; dynamic stiffness adapts to dynamic driving and flexibly adjusts damping according to road conditions.
Damping ratio: Generally between 0.2 and 0.4, which is related to the shock absorption efficiency. A reasonable damping ratio allows vibrations to decay quickly and prevents excessive vehicle body rebound.
