Buffering characteristics:
Tris is a weak base, and its pKa is 8.1 at 25ºC. According to buffering theory, the effective buffering range of Tris buffer is between pH7.0 and 9.2. The pH of Chemicalbook aqueous solution of Tris base is about 10.5. Hydrochloric acid is generally added to adjust the pH value to the desired value to obtain the pH buffer. But at the same time, attention should be paid to the influence of temperature on pKa of Tris.
Chemical properties:
A white crystal or powder. Melting point 171-172ºC, boiling point 219-220ºC /1.3kPa, soluble in ethanol and water, slightly soluble in ethyl acetate, benzene, insoluble in ether, carbon tetrachloride, copper, aluminum corrosion, irritant.
Use:
1. It is mainly used for medical intermediates and biochemical reagents
2. Fosfomycin intermediate, can also be used as vulcanization promoter, cosmetics (cream, lotion), mineral oil, paraffin emulsifier, biological buffering agent.
3. Used as a biological buffer and acid titration method, the base quasimaterial is prepared by the corresponding nitro compound reduction or catalytic hydrogenation method using the production method.
