Pharmacologic action: Pharmacodynamics Florfenicol is a broad spectrum of amideol antibiotics, which is a bacteriostatic agent. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the ribosomal 50S subunit. It has strong antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Pasteurella hemolyticus, Pasteurella multocida and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae are highly sensitive to florfenicol. The antibacterial activity of flfenicol against many microorganisms in vitro is similar to or stronger than that of sulfoxycin. Some bacteria resistant to aminools due to acetylation, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, may still be sensitive to flfenicol.
