Niclosamide
As an eel-killing agent (Iampricide) and molluscicide, it is a salicylamide derivative. Its anti-insect mechanism is to inhibit the oxidative phosphorylation process of mitochondria in the body cells of worms, reduce the generation of energy substance ATP, and make the head segment and adjacent segment of tapeworms metamorphose, and the worm body falls off from the intestinal wall and is excreted in feces.
It has no effect on insect eggs. Death tablet is easy to be digested and decomposed by enteric protease, releasing worm eggs, which may cause cysticercosis.
It also has killing effect on oncomelania snail and Schistosoma japonicum cercariae. It can kill many kinds of snails, beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata), pork tapeworm (Taeniasolium), fish tapeworm (Diphyllobothrium latum), tapeworm (Taeniae), Cercariae. In agriculture, it is mainly used to kill the conch in rice fields (also known as big bottle conch, apple conch, English Pomacea canaliculata). At the same time, in public health control, used to kill oncomelania snail (intermediate host of schistosomiasis).
Nitrosamine can produce rapid metabolic changes in water, action time is not long. It is also used in commercial fish ponds to kill and clear unwanted fish before the fish ponds to new water. Niclosamide is highly toxic to fish, but has a very short half-life in the water, and it only takes a few days for new fish to be added after the use of the insecticide.
