The mechanism of action of flonicamid is mainly through the inhibition of nicotinic receptor function at the neuromuscular junction of pests. This leads to a loss of normal nerve conduction in the pests, ultimately resulting in death.
This mechanism highlights flonicamid's role as a novel nicotinic receptor blocker. It interferes with the insect nervous system to achieve pest control. Additionally, flonicamid exhibits contact, stomach toxicity, neurotoxic effects, and rapid feeding deterrence.
It is highly neurotoxic and has quick feeding deterrent activity against sap-sucking pests like aphids. These pests will quickly stop feeding after ingesting plant sap containing flonicamid, eventually dying from starvation.
These characteristics make flonicamid an efficient and low-residue pesticide, widely used in agricultural production to control and eliminate pests.
Features of Flonicamid
Flonicamid has low dosage and high activity, strong systemic translocation, and resistance to rain wash-off. It has a long residual effect and is highly safe for natural enemies and beneficial organisms, making it very environmentally friendly. It can effectively control sap-sucking pests such as cotton aphids, peach aphids, thrips, and whiteflies.
Application
1. To control various types of aphids, apply 30-50 grams of 10% flonicamid water-dispersible granules per acre, mixed with 30-50 kilograms of water for uniform spraying at the early onset of the infestation. For optimal control, a second application can be made after 7 days to effectively manage the continued damage and spread of aphids. Alternatively, you can use 15-20 grams per acre of 50% flonicamid + pymetrozine water-dispersible granules, which offers better efficacy.
2. For controlling rice planthoppers and brown planthoppers, apply during the peak period of young nymphs. Use 70-90 grams of 53% flonicamid + isoprocarb wettable powder per acre, mixed with water for spraying, focusing on even and thorough coverage of the lower and upper surfaces of the rice leaves. This will enhance the control effect.
3. To control thrips, apply at the onset of the young nymph stage, preferably after 4 PM. Use 7-8 grams of 50% flonicamid + acetamiprid water-dispersible granules per acre, mixed with 30 kilograms of water for spraying. This will quickly control the spread of thrips.
